Qalibaf: US bad faith undermined stability in region

Pars Today – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said in a meeting with the Pakistani army chief: “We are pursuing the implementation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding, and it is the United States that must honor its commitments under the agreement.”

According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Field Marshal Asim Munir, commander of the Pakistani Army, met and held talks with Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Monday evening.

The meeting was held as part of Pakistan’s efforts to help strengthen peace and security in the region. Qalibaf reviewed several instances of US failure to honor its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and said the parties’ obligations under the MoU were clear. He added that it was the United States’ bad faith that prevented stability from being established in the region and created another reason for distrust of Washington.

The head of Iran’s negotiating team rejected the notion that the Islamic Republic could be influenced by pressure, stressing: “We are pursuing the implementation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding, and it is the United States that must honor its commitments under the agreement.”

Asim Munir, for his part, said he would continue his efforts to restore stability in the region.

Major General Rezaei: We distrust the US, and it must change its behavior

Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, also said during a meeting with the Pakistani army chief: “We distrust the United States. America must change its behavior and take practical steps to implement the terms of the agreement.”

Asim Munir, referring to Pakistan’s extensive efforts to conclude the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, emphasized the brotherly ties and friendship between Iran and Pakistan. He also said Pakistan had made considerable efforts to help ensure security along the border between the two countries.
