Pezeshkian: Strengthening convergence among Islamic countries key to regional stability

Pars Today – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, referring to the region’s vast reserves and wealth, warned that adversaries are eyeing these resources and seeking to create divisions, wars, and conflicts in order to seize them. He said the only way to counter these efforts is for Islamic countries to remain vigilant and united.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking on Tuesday during a meeting with Faiq Zidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, and his accompanying delegation, stressed the importance of preserving unity and cohesion among neighboring and Muslim countries.

He said: “It is necessary for Muslim nations to further expand their cultural, commercial, social, political, and economic interactions, because this convergence will be a factor in establishing security, peace, and stability in the region in the face of common adversaries, including the United States and the Zionist regime.”

Referring to the region’s vast reserves and resources, Pezeshkian warned that adversaries, driven by greed for these resources, are seeking to create division, war, and conflict in order to seize them. He said the only way to counter these efforts is to maintain vigilance and strengthen unity among Islamic countries.

Iran’s president continued his remarks by describing efforts to establish justice in Islamic countries as a factor in reducing problems and disagreements and fostering a greater spirit of multilateral cooperation. He stressed that everyone should work to resolve misunderstandings and create the conditions for expanding regional security.

Emphasizing the need to form an alliance of Muslim countries as a united Islamic community (Ummah) to strengthen stability and security in the region, Pezeshkian added: “All Muslims living in West Asia, according to the verses of the Quran, constitute a united Ummah, and their conduct should be measured based on God-consciousness.”

He added: “I hope that with the realization of unity among Islamic countries, the conditions will be created for the United States to leave the region, and that the leaders of regional countries will establish an indigenous and sustainable model for maintaining stability.”

Faiq Zidan, President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, also expressed his appreciation during the meeting for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s valuable solidarity and continued support for the Iraqi people and government throughout the various stages of the country’s political history. He said Iran’s unparalleled support and solidarity in the fight against terrorism and the ISIS terrorist group was a clear example of such strategic support.

He also praised the Islamic Republic’s efforts to contain terrorism in the region, saying that if the two sides’ joint plans in the security, economic, social, and cultural fields are translated into concrete steps, major achievements could be made toward regional progress and success.

The President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council described the expansion of political and security relations as a factor in strengthening regional stability and cooperation and containing the Zionist regime, emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s central role in this regard.

Referring to the region’s abundant resources, Zidan stressed that expanding international and multilateral relations would enable all countries in the region to benefit from them. He said: “Iraq seeks special economic cooperation centered on the Islamic Republic of Iran and declares its readiness to deepen these ties.”
