Maj. Gen. Hatami: War experience revealed strategic importance of air defense

Pars Today – The Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army described air defense as a symbol of Iran’s defensive power and self-reliance in protecting the country’s airspace, saying that the experience of recent imposed wars once again demonstrated the vital and strategic importance of air defense in ensuring security and safeguarding Iran’s airspace.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Major General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Army, made the remarks in a message marking Air Defense Day. Addressing Brigadier General Alireza Elhami, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Headquarters and the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force, he noted that Iran’s air defense forces played an effective and self-sacrificing role on the front lines during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War, creating a record of remarkable resistance and sacrifice.

He added that in the years since then, relying on the knowledge and capabilities of young specialists, Iran’s air defense sector has rapidly advanced along the path of self-sufficiency, indigenization, and upgrading its air defense systems.

The message further stated: “Today, the use of advanced, domestically developed equipment and systems, alongside the knowledge, faith, and round-the-clock readiness of air defense personnel, is a symbol of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defensive power and self-reliance in safeguarding the nation’s airspace.”
