Russia’s top judiciary official praises Iranian people’s resistance

Pars Today – Igor Krasnov, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the country’s highest-ranking judicial official, praised the unwavering resistance and courage of the Iranian people during a meeting with Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, while reiterating Moscow’s support for Tehran.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Krasnov said on Friday, during his meeting with Mohseni-Ejei on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit of Heads of Judiciary in New Delhi, India: “Today, our countries are facing unprecedented external pressure, politicized approaches to international law, and unlawful unilateral sanctions. Under these circumstances, we are united in our firm determination to defend the independence of our countries.”

Referring to the September 1, 2026 meeting between the presidents of Iran and Russia on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Krasnov said: “At this meeting, Tehran and Moscow reaffirmed their commitment to developing friendly relations between the two countries.”

Referring to Iran’s accession to BRICS in January 2024, Russia’s top judicial official said Tehran’s participation in BRICS judicial cooperation would create new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in this field.

Krasnov stressed during the meeting the importance of discussing the future of justice in a forum whose core principles are equality, respect for national sovereignty, and the establishment of a just and multipolar world.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation reported that the senior judicial officials of Iran and Russia expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, they would be able to develop unified and effective judicial approaches to support cross-border businesses and legitimate investors.

During the meeting, the Chairman of Russia’s Supreme Court proposed strengthening judicial ties by establishing a reliable legal framework and concluding a cooperation agreement with the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
