Pars Today- Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that BRICS today is not merely a framework for cooperation among several emerging economies, saying it represents a growing demand for a more balanced and inclusive world in which no center of power has the right to determine the fate of others.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking at the 18th BRICS Plus Summit under the theme “Resilience, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth,” said no country can address today’s global challenges alone. BRICS must turn the dispersed capacities of countries of the Global South into shared capacity. In this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s geopolitical position and energy and transit potential can play an effective role in developing trade and energy routes among member states.
Stressing that economic resilience will not be sustainable without security, he said the developments in our region, particularly the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, have shown that the effects of targeting a country’s economic, energy and development infrastructure can quickly extend beyond its borders and have regional and global consequences.
Pezeshkian added: “The Iranian people have paid a heavy price for these acts of aggression. Women and men, children and civilians have lost their lives, and infrastructure built over decades to develop the country has been damaged. These events serve as a reminder of the international community’s heavy responsibility to protect civilians and prevent the normalization of attacks on civilian targets.
He continued: “The people of Gaza and Lebanon are also still facing the consequences of crimes and genocide. It is impossible to speak of international law if there is no effective international response to military aggression, the killing of people and the destruction of their lives. Therefore, BRICS must also play a more effective role in defending national sovereignty, territorial integrity and the prohibition of the use of force.
Pezeshkian added: “BRICS today is not merely a framework for cooperation among several emerging economies, but a sign of a growing demand for a more balanced and inclusive world in which no center of power has the right to determine the fate of others.
He concluded: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to make its capacities available for BRICS cooperation along this path. Resilience cannot endure without sustained cooperation; cooperation is not sustainable without justice; and sustainability will not be possible without peace and security. Let us turn BRICS into a platform for translating these principles into practical action. A future in which growth, security and development are possible for all is not only possible, but also a shared responsibility toward future generations.”
