Pars Today – Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on international affairs, said in a meeting with Bafel Talabani, president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), that Iraq has always held a special place in the relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Velayati expressed pleasure at Talabani’s visit to Tehran, saying, “Iraq has always held a special place in the relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This has always been emphasized by the martyred Leader of the Revolution and continues to be pursued.”

He added, “We must be careful not to act in a way that arouses the greed of certain countries, particularly the US and the child-killing Zionist regimes. As two powerful neighboring countries, you and we can overcome all challenges together.”

Talabani, for his part, expressed the friendship and solidarity of the Iraqi people with the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying, “My presence in Iran and with you, who have had the greatest influence on bilateral relations and are a well-known figure not only in Iraq but around the world, is intended to convey the message that we will always stand by you.”

Talabani said, “We are certain that others, regardless of their nationality or ethnicity, will come and go, but what will remain is the eternal neighborhood between Iraq and Iran. This is a major asset and source of support for relations between the two countries.”
