Iran calls for boosting trade cooperation with Albania

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Albanian Foreign Minister Dirmir Bushati in Tehran on Sunday underlined his country's preparedness to boost trade and economic ties with Albania.

"Tehran welcomes boosting ties with Tirana; both countries have excellent grounds to cooperate in trade and economic fields,” President Rouhani said during the meeting.

The Iranian president also pointed to terrorism as a global threat, and said, "We favor peace and stability to be restored in all the regional countries."

The Albanian foreign minister, for his part, underlined that terrorism is a threat to international peace, and said, "We are resolved to develop strong ties with Tehran."

Bushati arrived in Tehran Friday evening to hold talks with senior Iranian officials, including his counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

"Bushati, heading a politico-economic delegation, left for Tehran for a two-day official visit," Albanian foreign ministry announced in a statement prior to his departure.

Iran's Ambassador to Tirana Gholamhossein Mohammadnia who was at the airport to bid farewell to the Albanian foreign minister said that the two countries have good relations and are interested to expand relations in different economic, cultural, tourism and scientific fields.
