Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri on Wednesday voiced her country's willingness to expand relations with Iran in all areas.

"The two countries enjoy vast potential for expanding mutual cooperation," Shukri said.

She reiterated that the exchange of delegations between Malaysia and Iran is an indication of the two countries’ commitment to strengthen ties.

She pointed to the recent exchange of visits by the Malaysian and Iranian officials and said, "Such visits are considered a positive step for the further development of bilateral relations."

Shukri said that Kuala Lumpur and Tehran have always enjoyed amicable relations, and said that trade relations between the two countries should be improved.

In relevant remarks on Tuesday, Malaysian Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong underlined that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has helped his country to broaden mutual cooperation with Iran in different fields. "JCPOA has created numerous opportunities for promoting agricultural and economic interactions between Iran and Malaysia," the Malaysian industry minister said in a meeting with a visiting Iranian parliamentary delegation to Malaysia. He reiterated that the nuclear agreement has created numerous opportunities for boosting economic cooperation between Kuala Lumpur and Tehran.
