Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi once again warned the US about the negative consequences of tearing up the nuclear agreement signed between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany).

"The US president has no choice but to abide by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)," Araqchi said on Saturday.

He reiterated that if Trump decides to tear up the nuclear deal, he himself should pay the price.

"If Iran had not inked the nuclear deal, Trump would have been able to make an international consensus against Iran but on the contrary, there is a consensus against the US president globally," Araqchi said.

In relevant remarks in mid-February, the European Union (EU) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reaffirmed that Iran has fulfilled its undertakings under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

In their joint statement, the EU and the IAEA reaffirmed support for the JCPOA based on their respective mandates.
