Tehran welcomes closer cooperation with Belgrade in all fields: President Rouhani

President Hassan Rouhani underlined the importance of the country’s relations with Serbia and said the Islamic Republic is ready to promote the ties in all spheres.

Speaking at a meeting with the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Maja Gojkovic, in Tehran on Sunday, President Rouhani hailed Tehran-Belgrade relations as “age-old and cordial” and said there are many capacities for the two sides to boost cooperation.

“These capacities, especially in the economic and commercial spheres, can play a major role in developing relations between the two countries, particularly through strengthening the banking ties,” he said.

Gojkovic, for her part, said the Iranian and Serbian parliaments are enjoying “very good” relations and seeking to promote bilateral and multilateral ties in all fields.

The president of the National Assembly of Serbia was among more than 100 foreign dignitaries attending President Rouhani’s inauguration in the Iranian parliament on Saturday.
