Leader pardons, commutes sentences of 1,007 inmates

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has pardoned or commuted the sentences of a number of Iranian inmates.

According to Press TV, the Leader on Tuesday agreed to pardon or reduce the sentences of 1,007 eligible inmates convicted by the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces.

Ayatollah Khamenei’s decision came in response to a letter from Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani asking for clemency regarding eligible convicts on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS).
