Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and his Japanese counterpart Takeo Mori in a meeting in Tehran held a new round of political talks, and urged expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting in the Iranian capital on Saturday, Araqchi and Mori explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating of mutual cooperation, specially in political and diplomatic arenas.

The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments.

During the meeting, the Japanese official reiterated his country’s unflinching support for the nuclear deal (JCPOA), and said Tokyo stands ready to expand its relations with Tehran.

In relevant remarks in early December, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message called for broadening of mutual cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo.
