    Iran and Tajikistan stress broadening of economic and energy cooperation

High-ranking Iranian and Tajik officials in a meeting in Dushanbe on Tuesday underlined the necessity for the further development of economic and energy cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was held between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues.

They also underlined developing cooperation in political, economic, cultural, energy and technology fields.

Zarif also held a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Rasit Meredow in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

Following up the agreements signed by the two countries during President Hassan Rouhani’s trip to Turkmenistan and regional issues were among the topics discussed during the meeting.

The Iranian foreign minister is in Tajikistan to attend a ministerial meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Addressing the conference, he warned of the threats posed by the extremist and terrorist groups to the ECO member-states.
