Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in a phone conversation on Tuesday underscored the necessity for the further bolstering of ties and cooperation between the two countries.

During the conversation initiated by Zarif, the Iranian top diplomat felicitated Cavusoglu on his reappointment as the Turkish foreign minister.

The two high-ranking officials also referred to the good and constructive relations between the two neighbors, and stressed continued and further expansion of cooperation in bilateral, regional and international areas in the interest of both countries and for the sake of strengthening stability and security in the region and the world.

On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his new cabinet, in which he named his son-in-law, Beraat Albayrak, as treasury and finance minister.

Mevlut Cavusoglu stayed as foreign minister, while Suleyman Soylu kept his position as interior minister.

Other members, including Vice-President Fuat Oktay, were former bureaucrats, NGO leaders, business people and advisers.

Erdogan has been in power for more than 15 years - either as prime minister or president.
