Leader: Air defense, frontline for thwarting enemy designs

Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on Sunday underlined the important role that the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base (Air Defense Headquarters) plays in protecting the country, saying it is the frontline for thwarting any hostile designs by the enemies.

According to reports, in an audience he granted in Tehran to senior commanders and officials of Army's Air Defense Base, he said: "The Armed Forces must upgrade their manpower and military hardware capabilities on a daily basis through vigilance as well as efficient and dynamic management."

The Leader rejected the notion of any military confrontation between Iran and its enemies, saying that political calculations rule out any such possibility.

He added that every step that is taken to boost the preparedness of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic amounts to an act of worship of Almighty God.

Stressing the importance of increasing preparedness and capabilities of the Air Defense Base and its staff, Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The Army's Air Defense Base is a very sensitive part of the Armed Forces.”

During the meeting, the new commander of the Army's Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, Brigadier-General Ali-Reza Sabahifard, presented a report on the base's measures and future plans.
