Pars Today - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei paid a visit this morning (May 13) to the 35th Tehran International Book Fair and spent three hours touring various book stalls.

During his visit, the Leader talked to publishers, writers, and book stall owners, getting a firsthand look at the latest published books and the state of the book market, as well as the level of enthusiasm for the exhibition.

The state of books and book reading in Iran has been one of Imam Khamenei's concerns over the past few decades, a concern stemming from his interest in promoting a culture of reading in society.

Several years ago, during a visit to the Tehran International Book Fair, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated: "Our people should have a closer relationship with books than they do today. Reading is a duty for a nation; it is obligatory and necessary."

The 35th edition of Tehran International Book Fair, with the slogan "Let’s Read and Create", began on Wednesday, May 8, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran and will be open to visitors until Saturday, May 18.
