  • Former Indian diplomat's view on Iran's using of smart power against Israeli regime

Pars Today- Former Indian diplomat, M.K. Bhadrakumar, believes that Iran. using smart power, deals effective blows to the hostile policies of the Zionist regime and decreases international support for the regime.

In an article titled “Iran To Hit Israel Hard With Smart Power ", M. K. Bhadrakumar, former Indian diplomat, has examined the recent developments in West Asia and referred to Iran's role in the region. According to Pars Today, he maintains that the recent changes in the regional and international policies indicate Iran's increasing power and the decrease of regional support for the anti-Iranian policies of the US.

Pointing to the new Iranian government, Bhadrakumar stresses that these changes in Iran's foreign policy will have important consequences for the US and Israel.

He maintains that Pezeshkian's victory in the election means that the old measures of enemies to destabilize Iran will be ineffective.

The Indian former diplomat, then touches upon the international reactions towards these developments and points to the International Atomic Energy Agency's Director General, Rafael Grossi's request for immediate meeting with Pezeshkian. He calls this request as a sign of the importance of the IAEA's interaction with Iran which can lead to significant progress in nuclear cooperation.

Elsewhere in his article, the former Indian diplomat mentions the change in the approaches of the Persian Gulf littoral states towards Iran and writes that these countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are distancing themselves from the anti-Iran policies of Washington.

He considers omission of the name of Hezbollah from the Arab League's list of terrorist organizations- which had been done under the US pressures- as a sign of these changes and stresses that such changes are deemed as a serious threat especially for the Zionist regime. Bhadrakumar continues, "Altogether, the Persian Gulf kingdoms which are carefully pursuing Iran's developments are feeling the change of paradigm. The main point is that Pezeshkian emphasizes on a regional unity to encounter the consequences of extremism."

He highlights this part of the Iranian president's remarks that, "The voice of hardliners shouldn't suffocate the voice of nearly 2 billion Muslims. Islam is a religion for peace."

The writer then claims that 45 years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the Islamic Republic is raised as the voice of "moderation and rationality". He writes, "Of course, this does not mean that Iran and other members of the axis of resistance will moderate their response to the recent moves of Israel. Iran's retaliation will definitely be harsher and more painful that whatever Tel Aviv has ever experienced."

Bhadrakumar is of the opinion that the war with Iran will be very different from the previous wars of the Israeli regime with the Arab countries. He believes that this war will persist till Israel allows the creation of a Palestinian government.

He writes, "The retaliatory capacity of Israel will gradually decrease. Iran's mid-term and long-term privileges are more important than those of Israel. The war will also be in numerous fronts with non-governmental players."

He then adds, "Believing that Israel would attack Iran's sovereignty, which is equal to a warlike action, is hard without the US approval. This very "unspecific known" factor will make the situation very dangerous. Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, has ordered to attack the Israeli "domain" directly."

Bhadrakumar, also, points to the deployment of US navy in the region and describes it as an indicative of the likely escalation of tensions between Iran and the Zionist regime.

To further explain the issue, he refers to the reports of the Pentagon pertaining to the concentration of 12 American warships in the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean.

According to the Indian writer, the Israeli premier, Benjamin Netanyahu, is not only the director but also the writer of screenplay of these moves as he intends to force other international players to act in accordance with him.

Finally, Bhadrakumar concludes that the recent developments in West Asia indicate major changes in the balance of power in the region which can have deep impacts on the future regional policies.

He maintains that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the key player in the region, has successfully dealt effective blows to the hostile policies of the Israeli regime with the help of its smart power, so that the international supports have decreased for the regime.
