Pars Today- As the upcoming Iranian presidential election nears, Iranian users of X social network, like their compatriots, follow the event with a special fervor.
Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, the 8th President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was martyred in a helicopter crash on May 19 with his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other companions on board, while returning from the inauguration ceremony of a dam in northwestern Iran.
According to article 131 of the Iranian Constitution, in case of death, resignation, sickness for more than 2 months, dismissal of the president or a similar event, the temporary presidential council is duty-bound to make preparations so that within at most 50 days the new president is elected.
Accordingly, the 14th presidential election will be held on June 28 in Iran.
