Pars Today- Results of a study show that the American media maintain a very ideological attitude towards the issue of Shia and followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (Infallible progeny of the Prophet of Islam).

The writers of the book, "Distortion of Reality, Redefining of Shia on the US Media", have surveyed a decade of news related to Shias during the years 2010-2020 on the US media. This survey reveals that there is no sign of neutrality and freedom on these media towards the followers of Ahl al-Bayt (Shia school of thought). According to Pars Today, the results of the study of Mohammad Saheb Bayani and Seyyed Saeed Hashemi Nasab, the writers of the book, the US media introduce Wilayat-e Faqih (rule of jurisprudent) as the central axis of Shiism and try to redefine this Islamic position with the words like dictator, warmongering and criminal.

According to the information in this book, the American media try to depict a totally different and opposite image of the axis of "Jihad and Resistance" in the Islamic world with concepts like terrorism, Shia-Sunni rivalry, avenging Sunnis, instability in West Asia and sectarianism.

Thus, the US media redefine independence and negation of the hegemony of foreigners- as the two principles of the Islamic Revolution- with the concepts such as "antisemitism and anti-Americanism".

The book, "Distortion of Reality, Redefining of Shia on the US Media", has also pointed to the mainstream media's endeavor to sow discord and cause rifts in the Islamic community. It reads that the Western media interpret and define the strategy of unity, Islamic proximity and the idea of unified Ummah with the words like "Shia-Iranian Empire", "Shia Crescent", "Iranian Dominance and Shia Caliphate".

The book also adds that the Global Arrogance is hell-bent on marginalizing the political Islam, especially the revolutionary Shia, in the Islamic world with two soft and hard methods.

Accordingly, the soft marginalizing is pursued through media and the hard one is pursued with military invasion.

Key words: Shia school of thought, US and Iran, American view of Shia, book of "Distortion of Reality, Redefining of Shia on the US Media", US media
