Day of "Hossein" in center of New York and hoisting Hossein's flag+ pictures
Pars Today- American Muslims held the day of "Hossein" in New York city to demonstrate their love and affection to the Master of martyrs.
Muslims residing in the US held the glorious ceremony of the day of "Hossein on the first Sunday of the Islamic month of Moharram. According to Pars Today, in this ceremony, the chant of "Ya Hossein" (O Hossein) was reverberated in the middle of the sky scrapers of Manhattan borough of the city.
This year, Muslims of different countries in the US, such as Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh and so on, unitedly and consonantly took to the streets of Manhattan to hold the day of Hossein gloriously in commemoration of Imam Hossein and his loyal companions.
The lovers of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him), after performing the congregational noon and evening prayers started to march in numerous groups which speak in various languages. These groups held the mourning ceremony of Imam Hossein with reciting elegiac poems and beating their chests.
Most of the families took part in the ceremony with their children and even infants in warm weather in a bid to make them familiar with the school of Imam Hossein from close.
Mourners, in addition to mourning, distributed votive, including food, water, fruit juice, and sherbet among the participants and even spectators in the streets of Manhattan. Some of the mourners of Imam Hossein distributed flowers and also pamphlets containing the history of Imam Hossein's unmatched uprising in English.
Muslims in New York, besides taking part in the ceremony of the day of Hossein, attend various mosques in the city to hold special elegiac ceremonies in commemoration of Imam Hossein and his uprising on the day of Ashura.
In Iran, too, the lovers of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) cover the walls of sacred places such as Tekyehs, mosques, and even parts of their houses in black.
As usual, the Moharram ceremonies of this year are being held gloriously.
In spite the lapse of 14 centuries from the heartrending tragedy of Karbala, which led to martyrdom of Imam Hossein and his loyal companions and the captivity of his sisters and womenfolk of his caravan, this tragedy not only has not lost its importance and high status, but also it is held every year more gloriously than the previous one. And the message of Ashura is being realized by different nations more broadly.
Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) was martyred on the 10th of Moharram, known as the day of Ashura.
