Protesters in the US State of North Carolina temporarily disrupt a rally for presidential hopeful Donald Trump, scuffling with his supporters there.

The scuffles broke out during the rally at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Wednesday, ahead of the state presidential primary on March 15.

Police made multiple arrests and escorted some demonstrators out of the arena as Trump supporters snatched away protest signs from those disrupting the rally.

Teams of law enforcement and security officers removed more than half a dozen groups of people who interrupted Trump's rally.

The White House hopeful spent much of his time on stage discussing trade and his ability to create jobs. He also led the crowd in a pledge to cast their votes for him in North Carolina's primary, which will be held March 15.

The US billionaire has over the past months stirred controversies for his tough speeches against migrants, Hispanics and other minority groups in America.

He has also drawn strong criticisms for demanding a ban on all Muslims from entering America, and saying that he would require US Muslims to register in a database.
