Israeli regime soldiers have opened fire at a Palestinian vehicle, injured and detained its driver over an alleged car-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank.

Citing local sources, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that Israeli forces fired live bullets at the car near Qalandia checkpoint, north of al-Quds, early on Thursday.

They also closed the area and prevented people from passing with military reinforcements, the report added.

Israeli forces fired towards the vehicle, causing its driver, a 22-year-old resident of the West Bank city of Qalqilya, to crash into a wall.

He sustained a moderate head wound and was taken to al-Quds’ Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem for treatment, a hospital spokesperson said.

The Tel Aviv regime has been criticized for its extensive use of lethal force against and extrajudicial killing of Palestinians who do not pose an immediate threat to the occupation forces.
