  • Jenin raid: Hamas reaffirms 'unbroken resistance' against Israeli regime

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has reiterated after the latest Israeli aerial raids on the occupied West Bank city of Jenin that atrocities committed by the Tel Aviv regime cannot undermine the Palestinian resistance.

Hamas further stressed in a Monday statement that the firing of missiles from Israeli helicopters during a raid conducted earlier in the day by Israeli forces against Jenin "reflects the weakness" of the occupying regime to confront the resistance fighters,  and proved that "the resistance of our people will not be broken."

Israeli forces, backed by Apache helicopters, raided Jenin earlier on Monday sparking clashes with resistance fighters. The firing of missiles during the raid has been unprecedented in the past two decades.

Israeli special forces martyred four Palestinians, including a child, and wounded dozens of others during the raid.

Hamas further stressed that Palestinian resistance fighters in the occupied West Bank are well prepared to respond to any Israeli offensive at any cost, noting that the regime's atrocities will not undermine the Palestinian's determination to defend their rights and homeland.

Referring to UN Resolution 37/43, Hamas reiterated that Palestinian people have "a legitimate right" to resist the Israeli regime in their quest for freedom.

The UN resolution, according to the statement, reaffirms "the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples for independence, territorial integrity, national unity and liberation from colonial and foreign domination and foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle."

In reaction to the latest deadly raid, the Islamic Jihad resistance movement called for mass protests in Gaza to show support for Jenin and its fighters.

Israeli forces have recently been conducting near-nightly raids and killings in the northern occupied West Bank, mainly in the cities of Jenin and Nablus, where new groups of Palestinian resistance fighters have been formed.

An official with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) condemned the Israeli regime's latest practices as "an open war" waged on Palestinians.
