Disobedience, low morale crises hit Israeli army amid Gaza war
Pars Today - With the intensification of fighting in Gaza and the call-up of tens of thousands of reservists, the Israeli army is facing the crises of declining motivation, mutiny, and desertion.
According to Pars Today, quoting IRNA, reports indicate an increase in dissatisfaction, psychological problems, and military insubordination, a situation that poses a serious threat to the efficiency of the Israeli army.
Sharp decline in willingness to continue serving
According to a survey conducted by the Israeli army’s Manpower Directorate, only 42 percent of officers are willing to continue serving, while this figure was 49 percent before the war. Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth has reported an increase in officer desertions and cases of suicide.
Widespread insubordination among reserve forces
With Israel's violation of the ceasefire and the return to war, many reserve forces have refused to obey orders. Hebrew sources have reported that a significant number of soldiers have informed their commanders that they will not report for duty if called up. In one instance, out of 30 soldiers from the Nahal Brigade, only 6 were willing to be deployed to Gaza.
Internal military protests and Netanyahu's reaction
Protests have also reached Mossad (the Zionist regime's intelligence agency). 250 employees, including three former heads of the agency, signed a petition demanding a halt to the war for the return of Israeli prisoners. Netanyahu, describing the protesters as "weeds", threatened to dismiss them.
Psychological trauma and consequences of a prolonged war
The Gaza war has led to an increase in stress disorders and depression among the soldiers. Hebrew newspapers have reported thousands of military personnel undergoing psychological treatment. This situation, coupled with international pressures, has raised questions about Israel's ability to continue the war, and Hebrew-speaking analysts are speaking of the regime's strategic defeat.
Overall, the decline in morale, insubordination, and psychological crisis within the Israeli army, along with internal protests, have created unprecedented challenges for the regime. The continuation of the Gaza war has not only failed to achieve Israel's military objectives but has also exacerbated its structural weaknesses.
The Zionist regime initiated the war against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, with two main objectives: to eliminate the Hamas movement and to return the Zionist captives from the area. However, it failed to achieve these goals and was forced to agree to the exchange of prisoners with the Hamas movement.
On January 19, 2025, a ceasefire went into effect in the Gaza Strip based on the agreement between Hamas and the Zionist regime, according to which a number of prisoners were exchanged. However, the Zionist regime subsequently refused to enter into negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire and from the early hours of Tuesday, March 18th, resumed its military aggression against the Gaza Strip, violating the terms of the ceasefire.
