Pars Today – The New York City mayoral candidate has reiterated calls for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Zionist regime, in support of the global BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement.

The BDS movement is a worldwide campaign aimed at pressuring the Israeli occupation regime through economic levers to end its occupation of Palestinian lands, dismantle systemic discrimination, and recognize the right of return for millions of Palestinian refugees to their homeland.

According to a report by Pars Today, citing the American website Algemeiner Journal, Zohran Mamdani, a New York City mayoral candidate, once again voiced strong support for the anti-Israeli BDS movement on Monday during an event held at the “B’nai Yeshurun” synagogue in Manhattan. He reaffirmed his call for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister.

In the United Kingdom as well, support for the BDS movement continues to grow. According to recent polls, the majority of British citizens support imposing economic and commercial pressure on Israel due to the regime’s atrocities in Gaza. Latest opinion polls show that 62% of Britons support economic sanctions against Israel, 65% back halting arms sales, and 60% demand the suspension of the UK-Israel trade agreement.

Meanwhile, tens of the UK Parliament members have signed a letter addressed to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, urging sanctions against the Zionist regime. In the letter, the group—comprising 96 MPs—expressed deep concern over the brutal violence against Palestinians and called on the London government to suspend the UK-Israel trade and cooperation agreement.

In continuation of global support for the boycott of Israel, the Spanish city of San Sebastián also joined the movement by boycotting the participation of Israeli athletes in a surfing competition. On Sunday, the Spanish club Grosiko Andara Surf canceled the hosting of the “Basque Pro Junior” surfing tournament because it had originally included four Israeli competitors.

In Jordan too, public opinion has become increasingly unified in favor of boycotting the Israeli regime. Recently, the people of Jordan placed pressure on their government not to allow their national basketball team to compete against Israeli teams. According to the website Muqati3, a campaign titled “Boycott Playing with Israel” has collected 200,000 signatures, expressing anger over the potential participation of the Jordanian national basketball team in a match with Israel.

In this context, Inas Hajjar, a Jordanian media activist, stated that playing with Israel means becoming complicit with a regime whose hands are stained with the blood of thousands of Palestinian children and women.
