Fire reported at Saudi Arabia's Abqaiq oil processing facility

Pars Today – Bloomberg has reported that satellite imagery indicates a fire is underway at the Abqaiq oil processing facility in eastern Saudi Arabia.

According to Pars Today, citing Arab Journal, Bloomberg, quoting a company specializing in satellite image analysis, said that images captured on Monday by the Sentinel-2 satellite show smoke and fire-related damage inside the Abqaiq oil processing complex in eastern Saudi Arabia.

The Abqaiq facility is considered strategically significant because it has the capacity to process approximately 7 million barrels of crude oil per day.

Earlier on Monday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen's Armed Forces, announced a series of drone attacks targeting several sensitive sites and crude oil supply and transportation facilities along a route stretching from eastern Saudi Arabia to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea.

Saree said the attacks were carried out in response to violations of Yemen's airspace by Saudi enemy drones.

In a recent statement, Yemen's Foreign Ministry also warned Saudi Arabia that if it does not end its blockade of Yemen, it should expect severe consequences. The statement added that the Yemeni people would never forget the blood of the tens of thousands of people who had been martyred during the past 12 years as a result of Saudi-led airstrikes.

The ministry further stated that Saudi Arabia should understand that the situation at Riyadh Airport should be the same as that of Sanaa International Airport, and that the status of the ports of Yanbu, Jizan, and other Saudi ports should be the same as that of the Port of Al Hudaydah.
