Zarif, Lavrov discuss bilateral ties, regional developments
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in a telephone conversation discussed mutual cooperation and developments in the regional countries.
During the phone conversation on Tuesday night, the Iranian and Russian foreign ministers voiced readiness for the implementation of the agreements recently reached between President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
The two sides also discussed regional developments and crises in their phone conversation.
Zarif, meantime, extended his condolences to Lavrov as well as the Russian government and nation on the tragic bomb explosion in St. Petersburg's metro on Monday which left scores of people dead and wounded.
A deadly explosion in St. Petersburg on Monday killed at least 11 people and injured dozens more after an explosion ripped through a subway train traveling between St. Petersburg’s Sennaya Ploshad and Technological Institute stations.
The Kremlin stated that the incident has "all the hallmarks of an attack".
Following the blast, the city’s metro system was closed down as police found and defused another explosive device in another station.
Russia's Investigative Committee has announced that it is dealing with the incident as an "act of terror".
