Palestinian teenager dies of wounds from Israeli fire in Gaza
A Palestinian teenager who was critically wounded by the Israeli military gunfire during an anti-occupation protest near the fence that separates the occupied territories from the besieged Gaza Strip on Friday has succumbed to his injuries.
Gaza Health Ministry Spokesmen Ashraf al-Qudra said 15-year-old Muadh al-Suri died of his wounds overnight Saturday.
The Palestinian teen was shot and wounded in the stomach east of al-Bureij refugee camp.
Scores of mourners attended the funeral procession held for the Palestinian teen in central Gaza Strip on Saturday.
Another Palestinian was killed and more than 200 others were injured during clashes with Israeli forces along the fence on Friday, according to the health ministry.
Ahmad Yagh, 25, was shot dead by Israeli gunfire in eastern Gaza.
The Israeli military said some 8,000 people took part in the protests at five sites along the fence.
“We continue with these marches until we achieve the demands of the Palestinian people and lift the siege of the Gaza Strip,” protester Abdullah Jawdeh told the Middle East Eye. “This is the 19th Friday of demonstrations, but we continue to attend with our families,” he said. “Tens of martyrs and thousands of wounded have fallen, but this will not defeat our morale.”
