Climate protesters block Geneva's private jet terminal
Dozens of climate change activists peacefully locked Geneva airport's private jet terminal on Saturday, November 16.
According to Press TV, Geneva is a hub for the private jets of the rich and powerful who live nearby or travel to the lakeside city for its banking, auction houses, hospitals and United Nations offices.
Activists sat in front of the small terminal building, linking arms while others stood by, waving Extinction Rebellion flags, singing songs or playing music. Police cordoned off the area.
Extinction Rebellion was founded in Britain last year, inspiring waves of disruptive actions around the world, and advocating civil disobedience, as they call for rapid cuts in carbon emissions and the repair of collapsing ecosystems. The company that operates the terminal said Saturday's protest had caused few complications as traffic was light.
