  • Intimidating emails sent to Democratic voters in US swing states,

Domocraitc voters in different US states have received intimidating emails claiming to be from the "Proud Boys," warning them to vote for President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

According to the law enforcement officials, the sender has claimed to have access to voter history and "will come after you" if they refuse to vote for the Republican president.

“You will vote for Trump on Election Day or we will come after you,” reads one of the emails.

Apparently, the main target of these emails were the voters from Pennsylvania, Arizona, Alaska, and Florida, including more than 180 students and staff of the University of Florida.

This comes as the head of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said he was "aware of threatening emails," adding that federal officials had been alerted.

"This is what we mean by not falling for sensational and unverified claims. The last line of defense in election security is you - the American voter. So be prepared, be a smart consumer and sharer of information. Vote with confidence," Chris Krebs noted.

The Proud Boys is a far-right and neo-fascist group that is  known for street violence against left-leaning protesters.

Designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Proud Boys call themselves “a pro-Western fraternal organization for men who refuse to apologize for creating the modern world; aka Western Chauvinists."

The members often show up to counter protests against Trump and racial injustice.
