Pars Today- The President of Mexico has announced a lawsuit against the company ''Google'' following the US approval of a bill to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico.
President of Mexico "Claudia Sheinbaum" announced that her government has filed a lawsuit against Google over the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to "Gulf of America" on Google Maps.
According to Pars Today, Sheinbaum said during a press conference on Saturday: A lawsuit has been filed against Google; we ask Google to place the name Gulf of America on the part that corresponds to the territory of the United States, and to place the name Gulf of Mexico on the territorial part that belongs to Mexico and Cuba.
Sheinbaum added: The Supreme Court of Mexico City has ordered Google to immediately correct the name of the Gulf of Mexico on its platforms.
Sheinbaum's announcement comes after the US House of Representatives passed a bill last Thursday to rename the Gulf of Mexico; a move that gives legal force to the executive order issued last January by then US President Donald Trump to change the name of the gulf.
