Pars Today – The President of Iran stressed the expansion of friendly relations and constructive cooperation with the world, saying that we must work together in the path toward developing peace and tranquility.
Iran’s pursuit of global peace, the martyrdom of Al Jazeera network journalists, the arrest of hundreds of pro-Palestinian supporters in the UK, the UN Security Council’s statement against the Zionist regime, threats against the families of Zionist prisoners, and China’s opposition to Israel’s actions are among the most important Iran and world news of the past 24 hours featured in this news package from Pars Today.
Pezeshkian: Cooperation for global peace is a necessity
According to IRIB News Agency, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, during the ceremony for receiving the credentials of new ambassadors from various countries, emphasized Iran’s readiness to expand political, economic, and cultural cooperation with all nations.
Referring to the necessity of global solidarity, he said: “On our small planet, cooperation for global peace and prosperity is a necessity.” The Iranian president, condemning the inhumane killing of the people of Gaza, called for immediate action by the international community to stop the war and deliver aid to the Palestinians.
The killing of journalists amid international silence
Mohammad Abu Salmiya, director of the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, announced that in an attack by the Zionist regime on the Al Jazeera journalists’ tent in Gaza, seven people were martyred.
Al Jazeera television reported that in a drone strike by the Zionist regime on the journalists’ tent next to Shifa Hospital, two of its reporters, Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, along with Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammad Nofal, Al Jazeera cameramen, were martyred.
According to Palestinian sources, in this airstrike, journalist Mohammad Al-Khalidi and cameraman Momen Aliwa were also martyred.
Crackdown on pro-Palestinian supporters in the UK
On Sunday, in the continued suppression of opponents of the Israeli regime and supporters of the group “Action for Palestine,” the UK police arrested at least 372 pro-Palestinian demonstrators who were peacefully protesting against the Zionist regime’s genocide in Gaza.
The protesters held signs condemning the genocide of Palestinians and called on Western governments, including the UK, to end their support for the genocide of Palestinians.
The UK Home Secretary praised the police for their actions and arrests of these individuals.
UN Security Council statement against Israel
On Sunday, the United Kingdom and France, two permanent members of the Security Council, along with three non-permanent members, issued a statement condemning Israel’s military plan for the full occupation of Gaza.
The UK, France, Greece, Denmark, and Slovenia declared in the statement that Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza City poses a risk of violating international humanitarian laws. These countries called on Israel to immediately cancel this decision.
China: Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people
Fu Cong, China’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated: Gaza belongs to the people, and this region is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory. Any action aimed at changing its demographic or geographic structure must face the strongest opposition and resistance.
The Chinese representative at the UN emphasized that illusions of military superiority must be set aside, and that an immediate ceasefire is the only correct way to save lives. He warned that the continued escalation of military attacks in Gaza will only lead to more killings and deaths.
Threats from families of Zionist prisoners
Families of Zionist captives, protesting the cabinet’s policies regarding prisoner releases through agreements with the Palestinian resistance, have threatened to paralyze the Zionist regime’s economy. The opposition has also supported these families’ negotiations with the General Federation of Labor in the Occupied Territories for a strike.
The families announced their intention to carry out a large-scale action on August 17 to shut down economic centers in the Occupied Territories. This protest, under the slogan “Shutdown to Save Soldiers and Prisoners,” is in opposition to the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet.
