Pars Today — US news website Axios reported that the rift between US President Donald Trump and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has widened over the past three months, not only over Iran but also over Lebanon and Gaza.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Axios reported that Trump’s stance toward Netanyahu has shifted in recent months. During the first weeks of the war with Iran, some of Trump’s close advisers were confident that the US president would support the Israeli prime minister. At the time, Trump had openly called for Netanyahu to be pardoned in order to end his corruption trial. However, as the war reached an impasse, the foreign policy objectives and domestic political interests of the two men increasingly diverged.

Axios added that the rift between Trump and Netanyahu has widened over the past three months over Iran, Lebanon and Gaza alike. Two senior US officials said that despite Trump’s personal admiration for Netanyahu, the president has become frustrated with his decisions and policies.
