Parstoday – The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories said that US sanctions against the group “Palestine Action” are aimed at silencing critics of Israel.
According to Parstoday, citing IRIB, Francesca Albanese wrote on her X account on Wednesday that the US sanctions against Palestine Action target those who “dare to hold Israel, which is accused of committing international crimes, accountable.” She added that the clear purpose of the sanctions is “to target a few in order to silence many.”
Huda Ammori, one of the co-founders of Palestine Action, also described the US decision in a post on X as “beyond hypocrisy,” writing: “As a Palestinian and Iraqi, the fact that a country that has destroyed both of my homelands calls me a terrorist is beyond hypocrisy.”
She added that US President Donald Trump represents the “opposite” of the values of Palestine Action.
On Wednesday, the US Treasury Department designated the UK-based group Palestine Action as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the agency responsible for enforcing US economic sanctions, also added the group to its list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN).
