Trump signs bill to sanction Russia and Iran

Pars Today- The White House announced that US President Donald Trump has signed the “2026 Sanctions on Russia and Iran, Lindsey O. Graham Act” into law.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the White House announced late Friday local time that the president had signed the “2026 Sanctions on Russia and Iran, Lindsey O. Graham Act” into law on Friday, September 18, 2026.

The legislation, H.R. 5334, known as the “Lindsey O. Graham Act,” is aimed at imposing sanctions on Russia and Iran in 2026. It authorizes and expands the imposition of sanctions, tariffs and restrictions on Russia and extends existing sanctions against Iran.

The US House of Representatives passed the broad sanctions bill targeting Russia and Iran late Wednesday local time and sent it to President Donald Trump.

The House approved the bill by a vote of 262 to 159, with the aim of imposing sweeping sanctions on Russia and Iran.

The Associated Press reported that the bill represents the most ambitious move to support Ukraine since Trump returned to the White House and ends nearly two years of relative deadlock on the issue following the emergency aid package passed in 2024.

The law targets Russia’s energy and defense sectors, as well as the country’s so-called “shadow fleet.”

The legislation also expands sanctions related to Iran.
