Why do some American officials deliberately seek to humiliate Japan?
Pars Today - Following recent statements by American officials justifying the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, concerns are growing in Japan. Tokyo, which opposes interpretations regarding the use of nuclear weapons, has announced its position to Washington, but has failed to attract the attention of American officials on this matter.
Senator Lindsey Graham, a prominent Republican, defended the atomic bombings of Japan in a meeting on May 8. This statement was made while Graham was discussing support for Israel in the face of the Palestinian situation.
He also appeared on a TV program, calling the atomic bombings, in which innocent Japanese civilians were massacred by Americans, a correct decision and again resorted to the deceitful argument of warmongering American historians, claiming that if we hadn't killed that many Japanese, the war wouldn't have stopped.
However, the US did not stop war and killing in the world after massacring Japanese civilians. Massacres such as the killings in Vietnam, Cambodia, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, and so on.
Therefore, it seems that this argument is only used to deceive the Japanese and other people around the world.
Graham also emphasized the need to provide strong armaments to Israel during a Senate Budget Committee meeting.
Yoshimasa Hayashi, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, described these statements as "very regrettable". He said: "The atomic bombings took many lives, caused unimaginable suffering including diseases, and created a very regrettable humanitarian situation."
The Japanese government responded weakly, merely informing the US government and Graham's office that the use of nuclear weapons is against the spirit of international law.
Unfortunately, Japanese historians and media outlets have not made sufficient efforts to date to spread a more accurate understanding of the reality of the atomic bombings globally.
Additionally, despite Japan's high level of cooperation and obedience to the US, Biden labeled Japan, China, and Russia as "xenophobic" on May 1, which also sparked a weak protest from the Tokyo government.
It seems that some American senators, especially those like Lindsey Graham, are deliberately seeking to humiliate Japan in order to strengthen America's political and ideological positions and maintain America's psychological dominance over the Japanese government and people. This is reminiscent of painful historical memories for the Japanese nation.
What is surprising to the global community is why the rulers of Japan, with their great history, intelligent people, and abundant capabilities, are not willing to break free from the psychological and political dominance of Western imperialism and do not have the will to take on the role of a determining society in global equations, instead of being in a subordinate position, and contribute to real peace among nations by countering imperialism.
