So where is Western liberalism?
Pars Today- Today, two great truths were revealed: One is the deception or even the decline of US liberalism and the other is the captivity of American politics, reason and management in the hands of Zionists.
Following the recent US police and military confrontations with pro- Palestinians students at US universities, Founder and President of the Board of Trustees of the University of Religions and Denominations in Iran, Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Abolhassan Navvab, in a statement, seriously criticized the logic of Western liberalism.
The statement reads:
In the name of God, the All- Compassionate, the All- Merciful
One of the theoretical bases of Western modernity is liberalism or libertarianism. The new and contemporary West, in a strange way, boasts about this legacy of the Age of Enlightenment.
Today, Americans especially, talk about liberalism as to be at the level of a modern religion, to the extent that once a group of famous American philosophers and thinkers authorized any kind of violent treatment against the opponents of American liberalism!
The most frequent principles and themes of liberalism in the Western world are freedom of speech and freedom of thought.
For many decades, the Western world has been condemning and pressuring the Eastern Bloc and the Third World and whenever the West found the opportunity, has launched campaigns against these regions.
Once Fukuyama recognized the destiny of mankind and the final and inevitable version of the world and history as the face of the politics of liberalism, that is, liberal democracy.
Although he later expressed doubts about this issue, Americans still consider their superiority and advantage in today's world as [rooted] in liberal culture, as well as they believe in and boast about the difference and superiority of the American version of liberalism.
In a word, liberalism both legitimizes the culture and political system of the US, and gives permission to Americans to confront other political systems in the world.
Here, we are not after an analysis and critique of liberalism or a pathological or futuristic look at liberalism.
What has preoccupied the observers and thinkers in the US and abroad for decades and has made them explore and monitor, is the degree of sincerity of Western politicians in adhering to and promoting liberalism.
Nowadays, it is almost clear to the world that the main driving force of Westerners, especially Americans, when facing other worlds and other lands and other political systems, is not the principles of libertarianism and values such as human rights and democracy.
We know democracies and free elections that because they were not in line with the interests of the Westerners, they did not enjoy from the [Western] support, but sometimes they remained silent in the face of [West’s] suppression or participated in their suppression; at least, in our region, there are many non-liberal societies and non-democratic political systems that enjoy the US and European unwavering support.
Today, few people believe in sincerity of Westerners in promoting and deepening liberalism in the world and the centrality of this thought in their interaction with other countries and nations.
Politics and economy are the two main drivers of the West in interfering in other countries, and liberal slogans are nothing more than a worldly cover.
Today, the Westerners’ deceptive act in prescribing libertarianism for others has been exposed and this is not a new discovery.
What is somewhat new is the revelation of the West's deception in being liberal inside Europe and the US.
Once it was thought that this doctrine and ideal, at least inside the Western territories, is a red line that is not allowed to be crossed, and that this taboo is so sacred that religion and even justice can be sacrificed for it, but today it has become clear that Westerners have a line of taboos and other sanctities that they are ready to slaughter even the desire for libertarianism for them.
The Western unwavering support for Israel and Zionism is not a new phenomenon. Once it was thought that the West, because of the suffering caused by its historical guilt and shame towards the Jews and anti-Semitism, was thinking of supporting the Jewish state and land.
Exporting this inauspicious evil to West Asia and making the Muslim nations pay for the crimes of Germany and other Western countries against the Jews has been an ugly and disgusting thing, but despite all this, it was thought that the West was seeking compensation for the Holocaust crime with humanitarian goals.
It is interesting that sometimes they made the Middle East [West Asia] feel obligated that supporting Israel is, in fact, supporting the only real democracy in the Middle East [West Asia], aiming at propagating liberal democracy in the region.
Over time, it became clear that the Westerners pursue other political goals in our region beyond benevolence for the Israelis, and that is to restrain the nations and powers of West Asia by this fake and imposed regime. In other words, they looked at Israel as the eyes, ears and arm of the West in the Middle East [West Asia].
Considering the governments that are completely aligned with the West in the Middle East [West Asia] and considering the heavy financial, political and prestige costs that the West has paid and continues to pay for supporting Israel, the question arises as to why Europe and the US continue to support Israel with complete generosity and sometimes with blatant disgrace? Why, even pretentiously, there is no balance and thoughtfulness in the West's interaction with Israel and Arab countries?
It has now become clear that the support of the West, especially the US, for Israel goes beyond benevolence for the Zionists and even beyond specific political goals in the region, due to their subjugation to powerful Zionist lobbies, funds and media.
The kind of confrontation of the US government with the uprising of the students of American universities, who questioned their dishonesty in their loyalty to liberalism, clearly shows that the wise and coercive will power of the US is in complete captivity of the strongest lobby in the US, that is, the Zionist lobby.
Among the top ten or seven universities in the United States which are sometimes considered the top universities in the world (Top Ten), most of them are completely dominated by pro-Israel Jews. We still haven't forgotten how in 2006, Harvard president officially declared that “it would be a shame for me to be the president of a university that opposes Israel.”
The student movement supporting the oppressed Palestine, which is flourishing in the top universities of the US, i.e. Harvard, Columbia and Princeton, apart from its human and moral advantages and in addition to the service it provides to the cause of Palestine, also made two great truths clear: one is the deception or even the decline of US liberalism and the other is the captivity of American politics, reason and management in the hands of Zionists.
While we support this student movement, it’s incumbent on us to make the world more familiar with these vital facts, namely the deception of liberalism and the subjugation of Europe and the US to the Zionists.
Student movements, anywhere in the world, are one of the most important centers of transformation in politics, culture and economy. Suppressing them anywhere in the world is condemned and is unconsidered and far from tact and foresight.
Suppression of student movements is sometimes done physically, and sometimes by killing the political approach and pushing the student to mere union demands and sometimes to mere freedom or even collective and individual carelessness.
The least achievement of tolerance towards students' criticisms and political protests is to elevate the type and level of student demands to the level of high political and social ideals.
We support the uprising of American university students against Israel and against the unlimited support of the US government for the Zionist regime, and invite everyone to respect the students, professors and universities and give the opportunity to students to express their demands.
