Deregulated under Trump, nursing homes are becoming COVID morgues

A recent US Government Accountability Office report found that about 4 in 10 nursing homes surveyed had deficiencies in infection prevention and control. Also, an independent analysis by The Wall Street Journal estimated that by mid-June, the actual death toll for nursing-home staff and residents was about 50,000, or roughly 4 in 10 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S.
