Goals and consequences of US president decision on Golan Heights

The US president, Donald Trump, once again, in an illegal decision, recognized the Zionist regime's so-called sovereignty over the Golan Heights in Syria. Major questions are asked about this illegal and illegitimate measure of the US president; one of which is the goals and consequences of Donald Trump's decision in regard to Golan Heights.

It seems as though the US president pursues five goals via making controversial decisions such as introduction of Quds as the capital of the spurious Zionist regime of Israel, and recognition of the Zionist regime's so-called sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Firstly, the US president is hell-bent on somehow ending the disputes of the illegal Zionist entity with Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, in favor of the Zionist regime. This illegal act is taken in line with Israeli regime's geographical goals, similar to other measures taken by the Zionist regime such as constructing Zionist settlements, and driving Palestinians out of their homes and hearths in a bid to pursue its expansionist policies. Hence, the US president, in a blatant act, has neglected the sovereignty of Syria over the Golan Heights.

Secondly, Golan Heights maintains paramount geopolitical importance for the Zionist regime. This region accommodates abundant water sources, which is of significant importance for the Zionists. In fact, the illegal Zionist entity meets one third of its need for water sources from the rainfall in Golan Heights. A river which pours into River Jordan, originates from Golan Heights. Furthermore, two other rivers also pass through this region. In the meantime, due to water crisis in West Asia, full occupation of Golan Heights by the illegal Zionist entity, provides the Zionist regime with the means to meet its need for water sources. Additionally, Golan Heights is significantly important for the Zionist regime when it comes to oil reserves. Golan Heights is enriched with oil deposits, which would make the Zionist regime self-sufficient in the oil sector for numerous years.

Thirdly, in the view of US president, the goal justifies the means, and he makes use of any means to secure his power. Although Donald Trump is currently the US president; he will face a tough completion with his Democrat rivals, in the upcoming US presidential election. He specially counts on the support of Zionists' lobby for victory in the upcoming presidential race. Trump's decision will ensue tangible and significant consequences across the region.

Firstly, Trump's decision fuels violence in West Asia. The Palestinian people have staged massive rallies in the past year, vehemently opposing Trump's illegal decisions, once again showing that they will steadfast against Israeli regime's usurpation policies.

In the meantime, Syria maintains national unity and sovereignty and is highly capable of defending its geography in the face of Zionist regime's raids. Based on several reports, Trump's decision about Golan Heights has prompted strong reactions among Syrians who live overseas, including the supporters and opponents of the Syrian President, Bashar Assad, with Syrians putting emphasis on liberation of Golan Heights from the yoke of Zionist regime.

Secondly, Trump's decision leads to changes in the geography and demographic makeup of Golan Heights in favor of the illegal Zionist entity. Golan Heights cover roughly 1800 kilometers; of which 1200 kilometers are occupied by the Zionist regime. Ten percent of the Zionist settlements are situated in this region, including thirty Zionist settlements, with an overall population of 20,000 Zionists. Meanwhile, around 24,000 Syrians still reside in Golan Heights, who vehemently refuse to receive the ID Cards issued by the Zionist regime, and strongly emphasize on their Syrian identity. Trump's decision can lead to forced migration of these Syrians from Golan Heights by the illegal Zionist entity.

Trump's decision leads to major consequences in the global arena, as well. Trump's illegal decision discredits global rules and regulations. The UN Security Council, via issuance of a number of resolutions, including Resolution 497 in the year 1981, refused to recognize the illegal occupation of Golan Heights by the Zionist regime. in fact, this resolution was approved by the overwhelming majority of UN Security Council member states, including the US. The incumbent US administration has violated and discredited the resolution which the former US administration approved in the year 1981.

Meanwhile, global oppositions to Trump's decisions have increased. The fact of the matter is that the incumbent US president made a decision, unilaterally and without gaining the agreement of other countries, especially the UN Security Council member states, thus forcing other countries to face a fait accompli. This illegal approach led to global oppositions, given that unilateral moves are totally unacceptable in the current era. Furthermore, the UN Security Council held a meeting on March 27, only two days after the enforcement of Trump's illegal decision about the Golan Heights. In this meeting, only the US envoy voiced support for the US president's illegal decision, once again leading to complete isolation of the US regime at the UN Security Council in the recent year.
