Ashura is the day of the greatest epic of history and the most heart-rending catastrophe of mankind, namely, the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his loyal companions and the captivity of the women and children of his encampment.

Imam Sadeq (AS) said, “Tasua is the day in which Hussein (AS) and his companions were besieged in Karbala, the troop of Shaam encircled him and blocked his way. And the son of Marjaneh (Ibn Ziad) and Omar Sa’d were rejoicing of having a big troop and they considered Hussein and his companions as weak and were certain that Hussein would have no more helper and companion and the people of Iraq would not come to his assistance.”
