Iran seeks to expand ties with Afghanistan and resolve disputes
Pars Today – During a meeting with the foreign minister of Afghanistan's Taliban caretaker government, the Iranian president voiced Iran’s readiness to broaden cooperation across various sectors. He stated that, based on Iran’s strategic policies, all disputes among Islamic countries are deemed baseless, and that fostering unity and convergence should replace any form of division in the Islamic Ummah.
Speaking with Amir Khan Muttaqi on the sidelines of the “Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025,” Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s brotherly and sincere approach and expressed a desire to expand cooperation in an atmosphere of mutual understanding. He stated “We consider helping the Afghan people, a religious and moral duty.” For his part, Muttaqi noted that trade between the two countries has surpassed three billion dollars, adding, “We regard Iran as a good neighbor and aim to be a reliable and trustworthy neighbor for Iran as well.”/ IRNA
