Iranian pres. to SCO's secretary-general: A Shanghai financial institution would support member states' shared goals

Pars Today – The Iranian president described the creation of a joint financial institution within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as essential. He said that such a mechanism could serve as an effective backbone for advancing the common objectives of member states and enable practical political, economic, cultural, and scientific interactions.

Speaking with SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev on Sunday during the “Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025,” Masoud Pezeshkian said that China’s current chairmanship presents a valuable opportunity to make strategic decisions and emphasized the need to transition the SCO from a ceremonial body into an operational institution./ IRNA
