Pars Today – The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, ahead of his trip to Baghdad today (Monday), announced the signing of a security agreement with Iraq and also the delivery of messages to Lebanon during his visit to Beirut.

Ali Larijani, before departing for Iraq and Lebanon, spoke about the objectives of these trips: His trip has two parts. The first part is in Iraq, Iran’s friendly and neighboring country, where cooperation between the two nations is at a very good level, exemplified by Arbaeen.

Larijani added: We have drafted a security agreement with Iraq, which is a very important point, and we will have meetings with many friends present in Iraq from various factions.

Larijani described the second part of his trip as Lebanon and said: Lebanon is one of the very important countries in the region and influential in West Asia. We have long-standing relations with the government and people of this country; therefore, there is a shared civilizational root between Iran and Lebanon, which is why cooperation between the two countries has a historical and extensive background.

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also referred to messages that will be conveyed during this trip and added: Iran’s positions regarding Lebanon have been clear from before. Our view is that national unity in Lebanon is an important issue that must be preserved. Lebanon’s independence has always been important to Iran, and we will assist in that regard.
