US attack on Caracas
Pars Today – Some media outlets are reporting that the United States has carried out an airstrike on Caracas, the capital of the country.
Media reports say that the United States has launched an air attack on the city of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Reuters also reported moments ago that the sound of at least seven explosions was heard in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital.
According to Pars Today, an area near a military base in the southern part of Caracas has experienced a power outage.
Local media reports indicate that at the same time as multiple explosions shook Venezuela, U.S. helicopters were seen flying over Caracas. According to reports, these included AH-64 Apache attack helicopters and CH-47 transport helicopters. Al Jazeera also reported that fighter jets were seen flying at low altitude and repeatedly striking unspecified targets in the Venezuelan capital.
In recent months, the United States has repeatedly used its military forces to destroy boats that it claims were carrying narcotics. According to U.S. officials, these operations were aimed at combating crimes related to drug trafficking, but their underlying objective was the overthrow of the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
The attack on Venezuela comes after President Nicolás Maduro had previously warned that the United States was seeking to overthrow the Venezuelan government and to gain control over the country’s vast oil reserves through sanctions and a campaign of military pressure.
