2019 World Wushu Championships: Iran defend Sanda title
In the 15th edition of the World Wushu Championships, Iran’s National Team have grabbed 2 more Gold Medals, to decisively reclaim the title in the Sanda discipline, after clinching 8 gold medals.
According to Press TV, on the final day of the event on Wednesday, and in the 70 kg category, Mohsen Mohammadseifi defeated opponents from Indonesia, South Korea and China to meet Aleksander Raasi of Lebanon in the final, where he easily won the gold, after dismantling his opponent with 12 points in just the 1st round.
In the 80 kg category, debutant Ali Khorshidi who had knocked out opponents from Poland, Turkey and Lebanon on his way to the final, managed to defeat the home-hero Cao Lujian to lead Iran into an undisputed Sanda championship, at the birthplace of Wushu.
In the total medals table for both Taolu and Sanda, Iran’s Team finished as runners-up with 9 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze, while China took the top spot, with 12 gold and 1 bronze.
