Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatbzadeh unveiled plans for the acceleration of import of vaccines for the coronavirus.

According to Tasnim News Agency, speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday he said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting on August 26 about the efforts to help the medical society in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

In the meeting, attended by the new Health Minister and ranking diplomats of the Foreign Ministry, good decisions were made about the acceleration of imports and supply of the COVID-19 vaccines, he added.

The spokesman said the people of Iran will observe the outcome of the new decisions in the coming weeks.

On Thursday, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said a special headquarters has been set up in the Foreign Ministry to speed up the import of coronavirus vaccine.

The FM said facilitating the import of COVID-19 vaccines was his first priority considering the coronavirus situation in Iran, adding that all of the country’s embassies abroad will contribute to the efforts.
