Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Baqeri-Kani says regional problems must be solved through dialogue by the very countries in the region.

According to Press TV, the diplomat made the remarks in a late Saturday meeting with Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al-Harthy, the Omani Foreign Ministry’s under-secretary for diplomatic affairs, in Tehran.

During the meeting, Baqeri-Kani and Harthy expressed satisfaction with the 50th anniversary of the two countries' relations, the level of ties and efforts to improve them based on mutual confidence.

The diplomat expressed hope that the existing issues would be resolved based on dialogue among regional states.

Harthy, for his part, said Iran plays a pivotal role in regional developments and voiced Muscat's keenness to bolster relations with Tehran. The Omani official emphasized that his country regards peaceful approaches necessary for peace and tranquility in the region. He said Iran and Oman would continue to expand relations, which have regional and extra-regional outcomes.

In addition to bilateral issues, the two sides also exchanged views about various international issues, including the anti-Iran sanctions-removal talks between Tehran and the P4+1 group of countries in Vienna and the need for a political solution to the war on Yemen.

In a Saturday meeting with the Omani official, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran is committed to dialog and diplomacy, underlining the country's readiness to hold talks with regional countries to boost bilateral ties.

Amir-Abdollahian said improving and expanding relations with neighboring countries is President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi administration’s foreign policy priority, noting that Iran attaches great importance to its ties with Oman as a neighbor.
