Iran: Deputy FM in Muscat for talks with Omani officials

Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani has set off for Muscat to hold talks with top Omani officials.

Bagheri Kani, who leads the Iranian team in negotiations with the parties to the 2015 deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), left Tehran for Muscat on Thursday.

His trip comes after a recent visit to Russia at the end of two days of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, mediated by the European Union, in the Qatari capital of Doha.

At the end of the Doha talks, a high-stakes diplomatic process aimed at breaking the stalemate in the efforts to restore the JCPOA, Iran and the EU said they would keep in touch “about the continuation of the route and the next stage of the talks.”
