Iran appoints new UN envoy

The Islamic Republic of Iran appointed a new ambassador to the United Nations headquarters in New York.
According to Tasnim news agency, Saeed Iravani has been selected as Iran’s new envoy to the UN, replacing Majid Takht Ravanchi.
The new ambassador held a meeting with Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi before leaving for New York.
With the experience of serving in various diplomatic posts, Iravani has worked as Iran’s chargé d'affaires in Iraq, secretary of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, and deputy head of the Supreme National Security Council’s secretariat for international security and foreign relations.
