IRGC Ground Force busts terror team in Sistan and Baluchestan

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has managed to bust a team of terrorists in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan close to the border with Pakistan.

The Force’s Quds Base said in a statement on Thursday that the team had affiliation to a foreign-sponsored terrorist group, and was busted following intricate intelligence and operational measures.

The statement said the IRGC servicemen disbanded the team before carrying out “destructive and terrorist acts” in the southeastern part of Iran.

The operation also resulted in the confiscation of six assault rifles, some of which had telescopic sight mounted on, and a large cache of ammunition.

In a similar incident last month, the IRGC Ground Force busted a team of terrorists in the province. Two terrorists were killed and a third one was arrested in the operation, which also resulted in the confiscation of ammunition, weapons and explosives.

Sistan and Baluchestan borders Pakistan. The province has witnessed several terrorist attacks targeting both civilians and security forces over the past years.
